As any experienced cultivator will tell you, cannabis is one of the easiest plants to grow and harvest, but for most people, the tricky part comes during the trimming process.
The problem is not that trimming is exceptionally hard but it’s the fact that it’s extremely repetitive and time-consuming. On top of that, you emerge from the task with perilously tired hands and maybe even some mild back pain.
The good news is that there are a few activities that you can engage in to make the trimming process less tedious and more enjoyable, to the point that you’ll wonder where the time went at the end of it all.
Have a TV Show Playing in the Background
There are certain TV shows that aren’t demanding on the attention and are thus safe to put on without worrying about getting distracted. A few examples would be The Office or Seinfeld.
There’s just something about having a show playing in the background while you’re trimming that just makes the time run faster. The best part about these shows is that they have little continuity so you can jump in and out of the episodes and enjoy the witty one-liners without feeling lost.
Listen to a Podcast
There are some brilliant podcasts out there that you can literally lose yourself in for hours at a time. A few of our favorites include The Roll Up, American Life, JRE, The School of Greatness, Aubrey Marcus Podcast, Awaken with JP etc.
These cover a wide range of interesting topics and feature fascinating guests that will have your mind blown to the point where you’ll almost be doing your work on autopilot while learning a ton of new stuff.
Hold a Quality Conversation with Someone
Another great way to pass the time is to enjoy a really engaging and fascinating conversation with someone that you genuinely find interesting. You can start the conversation by introducing a weird or thought-provoking topic that will get everyone talking but without being offensive.
You’ll probably learn a lot more about the people you’re working with through such conversations than through your normal everyday interaction. There’s just something about discussing an unusual topic that gets people to open up and really share their unique perspective.
Develop a Sequence
Get organized and put all of the tools you’ll be using while trimming in front of you and in a particular sequence. That way, you can go from one step of the process to the other in an orderly fashion which will help you finish the job quicker and more efficiently.
Bonus Tip: Whatever you do, don’t smoke the weed while trimming. This is the one time where you have to listen to the saying “don’t get high on your own supply” as doing so can slow you down significantly.
Trimming is an activity that requires you to pay attention to detail, and that functionality can get lost when you get high because you’ll be doing stuff like staring at the leaves for long periods of time or getting distracted by the slightest thing and losing track of time.
